Engineering requires a high level of technical knowledge and as such candidates realistically have to come from an engineering-related degree background. A career in engineering will give you an excellent opportunity to directly transfer your knowledge and skills acquired from your degree, something lost by thos that study engineering at University, but take up jobs in finance and management consultancy.
A reflection of the emphasis on technical knowledge is the importance of competency based assessment during the selection process. However, as well as a strong technical knowledge, candidates will be required good communication skills, and problem solving abilities as well as demonstrating they are a good team player. Candidates will also need to be commercially sensitive and have a solutions focused approach to prjects and tasks. |
